I pray that the hand of the truth may be stretched out and blessing given to this people on account of Thy lovingkindness, O God of compassion: May a hand of piety and power and sound discipline and cleanness and all holiness, bless this people, and continually preserve it to advancement and improvement, through Thy Only-Begotten Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. On Wednesday nights, Trinity Lutheran Church(Herrin, IL) offers to both children and adults an opportunity for teaching with Learn-by-Heart at 6:30 PM and a catechetical service at 7:00 PM.
This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service. The dialog sermon explains Prayer (St. John 16:23-33), which is the Holy Gospel for the Fifth Sunday in Easter.
Learn-by-Heart will include the hymn “Our Father, Thou in Heaven Above” (The Augustana Service Book and Hymnal #34, LW 431, TLH 458), Small Catechism, Table of Duties: To Husbands: 1 Peter 3:7, Col 3:19, and St. John 16:14 and To Wives: Eph 5:22, and St. John 16:33.
