In the Sacristy 5.

LORD our God, great, eternal, wonderful, in glory, Who keepest covenant and promises for those that love Thee with their whole heart; Who art the life of all, the Help of those that flee unto Thee, the Hope of those who cry unto Thee: Cleanse me from my sin, secret and open, and from every thought displeasing to Thy goodness; cleanse my body and soul, my heart and conscience, that with a pure heart and a clean soul, with perfect love and calm hope, I may venture confidently and fearlessly, to come before Thee, and pray unto Thee; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.129-130, adapted for lay use).

In the Sacristy 4.

WE beseech Thee, the Father of the Only-Begotten, the Lord of the universe, the Creator of the creatures, the Maker of things that have been made; clean hands do we stretch out, and our thoughts do we unfold to Thee. We pray Thee, have compassion, spare, benefit, improve, multiply us in virtue and faith and knowledge. Visit us, O Lord; to Thee we display our own weaknesses. Be propitious and have pity on us all in common. Have pity, benefit this people. Make it gentle and sober-minded and clean; and send angelic powers in order that all this Thy people may be holy and reverent. I beseech Thee, send the Holy Spirit into our mind and give us grace to learn the Divine Scriptures from Thy Spirit, and to interpret cleanly and worthily that all the flock present may be helped, through Thy Only-Begotten Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit through Whom to Thee be the glory and the strength both now and unto all the ages of the ages. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.128-129).

On Entering the Church 4.

O GOD, Whose Word is a light making bright my way to Thee: Open my ears to hear, my mind to understand, my heart and soul to absorb, my life to show forth, Thy blessed Word borne to me this day; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.127).

On Entering the Church 3.

FORGIVE, O God, for Jesus’ sake, my many sins and faults, that joyfully I may worship Thee; grant me Thy Holy Spirit, to direct my thought, nourish me in Thy Word; and lead me to Thy altar, where in the communion of Thy Christ, I may be one in Him, and so live in Him to Thy praise; through the Same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.126).

In the Sacristy 2.

GOD and Master of all things, make us the unworthy, O Lover of men, worthy of this hour, that we, remaining pure from all guile and all hypocrisy, may be united together by the bond of peace and love, being stablished by the sanctification of Thy divine knowledge, through Thy Only-Begotten Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with Whom Thou are blessed, with Thy most Holy and Good and Quickening Spirit, now and ever and to ages of ages. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.128).

On Entering the Church 1.

O LORD, open Thou my lips to praise Thy name, for I would adore Thee in Thy Church, O Blessed GOD, FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT, Who art worthy of all adoration and worship, blessing and praise, now and evermore. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.126).

On Going to Church.

HOW amiable are Thy Tabernacles, O Lord of Hosts.

Lord, open Thou my lips and purify my heart, that I may worthily magnify Thy glorious name; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.126).

For the Iniquitous.

O GOD, Who hatest all that work iniquity: Fill us with the strength of Thy love; that they may at some time turn to Thee, and bitterly lament their sin, who now speak falsely against Thee; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.90).

For the Lapsed.

O LORD GOD of Israel, we beseech Thee, we entreat Thee, that Thou wouldst not refuse us sinners, because of our conversation. Thy goodness which Thou bestowest freely on them that are true of heart, that Thou mayest make them who are their own slaves rebel by that same grace whereby Thou rulest the lowly; and that the same goodness wherewith Thou ever crownest the righteous may continually interpose for us; that Thou mayest spare us sinners, that, rejoicing in the goodness wherein the saints are glad, they may delight in being restored by it to Thee, whom worldly lures have drawn from Thee through the contagion of divers things, and that with humble devotion of soul they may pay their vows unto Thee, uniting in Thy praise; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.90).

For the Afflicted 2.

We beseech Thee, O Lord, give strength to the weary, aid to the sufferers, comfort to the sad, help to those in tribulation; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.89).
