Catechesis for Advent 4 on Dec 15, 2021

On Wednesday nights, Trinity Lutheran Church(Herrin, IL) offers to both children and adults an opportunity for teaching with Learn-by-Heart at 6:30 PM and a catechetical service at 7:00 PM.

This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service. The dialog sermon explains “The Testimony of John” (St. John 1:19-28), which is the Holy Gospel for Fourth Sunday in Advent.

Learn-by-Heart will include Lutheran Worship #25, stanza 4 of “O People, Rise and Labor,” Small Catechism, Lord’s Prayer, 6th and 7th Petition, Conclusion and their meanings, and 1 Peter 3:21.

On Wednesday nights, Trinity Lutheran Church (Herrin, IL) offers to both children and adults an opportunity for teaching with Learn-by-Heart at 6:30 PM and a catechetical service at 7:00.

In this video from December 12, 2018, we learned stanza 4 of “Hail to the Lord’s Annointed” (The Lutheran Hymnal #59), the seventh petition of the Lord’s Prayer and the meaning from Luther’s Small Catechism.  This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service.  The dialog sermon explains John’s Question to Jesus (St. Matthew 11:2-11), which is the Holy Gospel for the Third Sunday in Advent.

On Wednesday nights, Trinity Lutheran Church(Herrin, IL) offers to both children and adults an opportunity for teaching with Learn-by-Heart at 6:30 PM and a catechetical service at 7:00.

In this video from December 6, 2017, we learned stanza 5 of “O Bride of Christ, Rejoice” (The Lutheran Hymnal, #57), the sixth petition of the Lord’s Prayer and meaning from Luther’s Small Catechism.  This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service.  The dialog sermon explains the comfort we receive from  the Second Coming of Christ (St. Luke 21:25-36), which is the Holy Gospel for the Second Sunday in Advent.
