Before Holy Communion for the Sick.

ALMIGHTY God, heavenly Father, since I can be well pleasing unto Thee only in Thy dear Son, my Lord Jesus Christ: So sanctify my body and soul, and grant that I receive His blessed communion in this Holy Supper with truly believing desire and thanksgiving, so that comforted again by Thy eternal blessings and love toward me, and strengthened in my faith, I may patiently suffer according to Thy will, obediently live, and when Thou wilt, blessedly die; through the Same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.84).

For The Sick, General. 1

SOVEREIGN Lord, our God Almighty, we beseech Thee to save us all, Thou only Physician of souls and bodies. Sanctify us all, Thou that healest every disease; and heal also me (this) Thy servant. Raise me (him) up from the bed of pain by Thy tender mercy, visit me (him) in mercy and compassion, drive away from me (him) all sickness and infirmity; that being raised up by Thy mighty hand, I (he) may serve Thee with all thankfulness; and that we, being made partakers of Thine ineffable benignity, may praise and glorify Thee, Who doest works great and wonderful, and worthy to be praised. For it is Thine to pity and to save; and to Thee we ascribe glory, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, now and forever, and unto ages of ages.   (Oremus, 1925, p.83).

Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.82).

For Brethren and Friends in Distant Lands.

ALMIGHTY Father, Who art present in Thy power in every place: Give ear in Thy loving-kindness to the supplications which we offer unto Thee on behalf of our brethren and friends in distant lands; may Thy mighty hand shield and protect them from all evil; may Thy Holy Spirit guide them in the right way and bless their going out and their coming in; and grant that, being united by our fellowship with Thee, we may all at the last be gathered in the Home which is above; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.82).

O GOD, Who by the grace of the Holy Ghost hast poured the gifts of love into the hearts of Thy faithful people: Grant unto Thy servant(s), N. For One’s Children. 3

O LORD Jesus Christ, Who art the eternal wisdom of the Father: We beseech Thee to assist, with Thy heavenly grace, the good learning and godly discipline of our children, that in all and above all things they may attain the knowledge of Thee, Whom to know is life eternal; and that, according to the example of Thy holy childhood, as they grow in years they may grow in wisdom, and in favor with God and man; who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.81).

In Time of Trial.

LET the sorrows and woes of Thy suffering Church come before Thee, O Lord Jesus Christ, and as Thou hast promised to be with her always, even unto the end of the world, hallow the trials by Thy loving, strengthening presence and strengthen her to endure affliction faithfully, enable her to carry her cross after Thee and to be faithful even unto death that she may come to the glory which Thou wilt reveal, where Thou livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.68-69).

For Contentment 2.

ALMIGHTY God, our Heavenly Father, Who dost feed the birds and clothe the flowers, and carest for us as a father for his children: We beseech Thee, graciously guard us against distrust and vain over-carefulness, and help us, through Thy Holy Spirit, to live to the hallowing of Thy name, the coming of Thy Kingdom and the doing of Thy will, so that we may cast all our care on Thee and in unwavering faith abide trustingly in Thee; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.66).

Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.65-66).
