Evening Prayer for Tuesday. 2

Eternal, Gracious, and Great God in heaven, Who through abounding grace and paternal care hast permitted me to complete this day in good health, I heartily render thanks unto Thee as is meet to do. Since I have not lived all this day unto Thy glory and honor, nor to the benefit of my fellows, because my whole nature ever inclines to evil rather than to the good, help me, who am conceived in sin, O most faithful God, that I may rightly acknowledge my weaknesses and become a partaker of Thy divine grace. Teach me often to dwell upon my latter days that I may compose myself thereunto through true repentance; and, when the end draweth nigh, may I gladly depart from this vale of sorrow to be translated with all believers into Thy heavenly paradise. In the meanwhile, so long as I am yet to abide here, receive me under Thy protection and graciously defend me against all harm and danger of body and soul, for Christ’s sake. Amen. (Page 280)
