In Commemoration of the Faithful Departed.

ALMIGHTY GOD, with Whom do live the spirits of them that depart hence in the Lord, and with Whom the souls of the faithful, after they are delivered from the burden of the flesh, are in joy and felicity: We praise and magnify Thy Holy Name for all Thy servants who have finished their course in Thy faith and fear; and we most humbly beseech Thee that, at the day of the general resurrection, we, and all they who are of the mystical body of Thy Son, may be set on his right hand, and hear that His most joyful voice, “Come ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” Grant this, O most merciful Father, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate; who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.94).

For the Outcasts.

O GOD, Who tellest the number of’ the stars, and callest them all by their names: Heal, we beseech Thee, the contrite in heart, and gather together the outcasts, and enrich us with the fullness of Thy wisdom; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.89).

For the Contrite.

O GOD, Who hast pity upon all, and ceasest not to receive with fatherly kindness them who return unto Thee: Remember, we beseech Thee, that we are but flesh, and be ready to turn Thy wrath away, nor kindle all that wrath against us, but soften it and vouchsafe us Thine. unfailing grace: through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.88).

For the Laborer.

ALMIGHTY God, Who, when Thou didst send forth man from Eden, commandedst him to labor in the sweat of his brow: We acknowledge that all our toil and work is in vain if it be without Thy blessing and aid; and we humbly beseech Thee to assist us patiently to fulfill our calling, and faithfully to accomplish our work, graciously enriching it with Thy blessing, in order that the labor of our hands may prosper, and, in thankfulness, we may consecrate the fruits thereof to the spread of Thy Kingdom and the help of the needy; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.  (Oremus, 1925, p.88).

For the Distressed.

ALMIGHTY and Everlasting God, the Comfort of the sad, the Strength of sufferers, let the prayers of those that cry out of any tribulation come unto Thee; that all may rejoice to find that Thy mercy is present with them in their afflictions; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.89).

For the Afflicted.

UNTO every Christian soul that is afflicted, or plunged into distress, grant Thou mercy, grant relief, grant refreshment; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.89).

Before Holy Communion for the Sick.

ALMIGHTY God, heavenly Father, since I can be well pleasing unto Thee only in Thy dear Son, my Lord Jesus Christ: So sanctify my body and soul, and grant that I receive His blessed communion in this Holy Supper with truly believing desire and thanksgiving, so that comforted again by Thy eternal blessings and love toward me, and strengthened in my faith, I may patiently suffer according to Thy will, obediently live, and when Thou wilt, blessedly die; through the Same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.84).

For The Sick, General. 1

SOVEREIGN Lord, our God Almighty, we beseech Thee to save us all, Thou only Physician of souls and bodies. Sanctify us all, Thou that healest every disease; and heal also me (this) Thy servant. Raise me (him) up from the bed of pain by Thy tender mercy, visit me (him) in mercy and compassion, drive away from me (him) all sickness and infirmity; that being raised up by Thy mighty hand, I (he) may serve Thee with all thankfulness; and that we, being made partakers of Thine ineffable benignity, may praise and glorify Thee, Who doest works great and wonderful, and worthy to be praised. For it is Thine to pity and to save; and to Thee we ascribe glory, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, now and forever, and unto ages of ages.   (Oremus, 1925, p.83).

For a Friend on his Birthday.

GOD, the Life of the faithful, the Savior and Guardian of those that fear Thee, Who, after the expiration of a year, hast been pleased to bring Thy servant N.N., to this his natural birthday: Increase in him. the grace of the Protector of life, and multiply his days with many years, that having, by Thy favor, been carried through a happy life, he may be enabled to attain the height of heavenly joys; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.82).

For Brethren and Friends in Distant Lands.

ALMIGHTY Father, Who art present in Thy power in every place: Give ear in Thy loving-kindness to the supplications which we offer unto Thee on behalf of our brethren and friends in distant lands; may Thy mighty hand shield and protect them from all evil; may Thy Holy Spirit guide them in the right way and bless their going out and their coming in; and grant that, being united by our fellowship with Thee, we may all at the last be gathered in the Home which is above; through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (Oremus, 1925, p.82).
