Catechesis on Trinity Sunday (St. John 3:1-17) 2022

On Wednesday nights, Trinity Lutheran Church(Herrin, IL) offers to both children and adults an opportunity for teaching with Learn-by-Heart at 6:30 PM and a catechetical service at 7:00 PM.

This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service.  The dialog sermon explains the night meeting of Nicodemas with Jesus (St. John 3:1-17), which is the Holy Gospel for Holy Trinity Sunday.

In this video from June 8, 2022, we learned Lutheran Worship #157, stanza 2 of “Come, Holy Ghost, Our Souls Inspire.”

Small Catechism, Table of Duties: To Workers of All Kinds:  Eph 6:5-8;  To Employers and Supervisors:  Eph 6:9, and St. John 3:5-6

This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service.  The dialog sermon explains how the Holy Spirit teaches from the Word all things about Jesus” (St. John 14:23-31), which is the Holy Gospel for Pentecost.

In this video from May 19, 2021, we learned hymn #154, stanza 1 of “Come Holy Ghost, God and Lord,” Small Catechism, Table of Duties: To Parents:  Eph 6:4  To Children:  Eph 6:1-3, and St. John 14:23.

Catechesis On Exaudi/Easter Six (St. John 15:26-16:4) 2021

This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service.  The dialog sermon explains the coming of the Helper, the Holy Spirit (St. John 15:26-16:4), which is taught in the Holy Gospel for the Sixth Sunday in Easter.

In this video from May 12, 2021, we learned hymn #395, stanza 4-5 of “O Fount of Good, for All Your Love,” Small Catechism, Table of Duties: To Wives:  Eph 5:22, and Ephesians 4:10-12
