For Wisdom

GOD, Thou Who art great and terrible, Who art adorned as the glorious Prince in the heavenly Jerusalem: Expand our souls with spiritual intelligence that Thy mercy tabernacling within our breasts, we may be made worthy to set forth Thy Holy Name; who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Catechesis on Cantate/Easter Four (St. John 16:5-15) 2022

On Wednesday nights, Trinity Lutheran Church(Herrin, IL) offers to both children and adults an opportunity for teaching with Learn-by-Heart at 6:30 PM and a catechetical service at 7:00 PM.

This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service.  The dialog sermon explains Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit to work through the preaching of the Word that Jesus might be proclaimed in the church. St. John 16:5-15 is the Holy Gospel for Cantate (Easter 4) Sunday.

In this video from May 11, 2022, we learned Lutheran Worship #264 (TLH 200), stanza 7-8 of “I Know that My Redeemer Lives,” Small Catechism, Table of Duties: Government: Romans 13:1-4,  Citizens:  Mt 22:21, 1 Peter 3:5-6, and St. John 16:14.

The service concludes with “Recite Responsive Prayer for Catechesis” (pdf link below).
