Catechesis for Trinity Thirteen – August 30, 2023

On Wednesday nights, Trinity Lutheran Church(Herrin, IL) offers to both children and adults an opportunity for teaching with Learn-by-Heart at 6:30 PM and a catechetical service at 7:00 PM.

This service is designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service.  The dialog sermon explains “The Good Samaritan” (St. Luke 10:23-27), which is the Holy Gospel for Trinity Thirteen.

Learn-by-Heart will include “Jesus, Priceless Treasure”  (The Augustana Service Book and Hymnal #51, LW 270, TLH 347), Small Catechism, Close of the Commandments and meaning,  and Romans 5:8.

Catechesis on Trinity Eleven (St. Luke 18:9-14) 2020

On Wednesday nights, Trinity Lutheran Church(Herrin, IL) offers to both children and adults an opportunity for teaching with Learn-by-Heart at 6:30 PM and a catechetical service at 7:00.

In the first video from August 19, 2020, we learned stanzas 1-2 of “I Come, O Savior to Your Table” (Lutheran Worship, #242), the eighth commandment and meaning from Luther’s Small Catechism.  [30 minutes long]

The second video is the catechetical service designed to prepare God’s people for the theme of the upcoming Sunday Divine Service.  The dialog sermon explains Jesus’ teaching on the Pharisee and the tax collector (St. Luke 18:9-14), which is the Holy Gospel for the Eleventh Sunday after Trinity.  The service concludes with “Recite Word by Word” (pdf link below).   [38 minutes long]
